Two-Way Articulating Video Borescope - QualiScope™ T

The QualiScope™ T two-way articulating video borescope bends its camera tip up and down across a 180° range, letting operators guide the lens through bores, welds, and pipes from a single access point. It comes with a choice of two probe sizes, 6.2 mm and 8.5 mm, which accommodate different opening sizes and image resolutions. Rotating the probe brings features outside the steering plane into view. A 4.3-inch IPS display presents the live image, while photos and video are saved to a TF card as the inspection proceeds. High-lumen LEDs at the tip illuminate dark cavities.

The QualiScope™ T is offered in two configurations: a screen version for direct handheld use, and a mobile version that streams to phones, diagnostic tools, and computers. The two-way design keeps controls straightforward and the tool lightweight, making it well suited to routine checks where the operator mostly needs to look up and down. The IP67-rated lens resists dust and water immersion, and a high-temperature alarm powers the unit down above 90°C to safeguard its electronics. A 2,600 mAh battery delivers roughly four hours of operation per charge.

Welders, mechanics, and quality inspectors rely on the QualiScope™ T for quick visual checks that would otherwise require taking equipment apart. A steering life rated at 20,000 cycles and a metal-and-plastic snake tube available in lengths up to 5 m make it a good fit for repeated use in the shop and in the field. The two-way format handles a large portion of everyday inspection work at a lower cost than four-way or 360° joystick scopes.

Two-Way Articulating Video Borescope - QualiScope™ T Applications

The two-way articulating video borescope supports routine remote visual inspection wherever an operator needs to see inside a component along a mostly straight path.

  • Welding Inspection: examines the internal weld root, penetration, and surface finish inside pipes, tubes, and vessels, with the camera traveling straight down the joint
  • Automotive and Engine Service: views cylinder walls, valves, and combustion chambers through spark-plug and injector ports to check for wear, deposits, and scoring
  • Pipe, Tube, and Duct Inspection: surveys interior surfaces for corrosion, blockages, and debris, steering up and down while probe rotation covers the remaining directions
  • HVAC and Facilities Maintenance: inspects ducts, coils, and wall cavities for damage, moisture, and obstructions
  • Manufacturing and Assembly QC: verifies the internal cleanliness and finish of machined parts, castings, and bores before the next process step
  • Machinery and Equipment Maintenance: finds wear, foreign objects, and damage inside gearboxes, pumps, and housings during scheduled service
  • General-Purpose Field Inspection: enables fast visual checks in maintenance and repair work where a full four-way scope offers more capability than the job requires

Standards

The two-way articulating video borescope holds international regulatory certifications covering safety, electromagnetic compatibility, and restricted substances. The source documentation lists no ISO or ASTM test-method standards, so the marks below reflect product compliance rather than a particular inspection procedure.

  • CE Marking: conformity with the applicable European Union directives on health, safety, and environmental protection
  • FCC: compliance with United States Federal Communications Commission limits on electromagnetic interference
  • RoHS: Restriction of Hazardous Substances, which limits specified hazardous materials in electrical and electronic equipment

Two-Way Articulating Video Borescope - QualiScope™ T Key Features

This two-way articulating video borescope combines practical inspection capabilities in a portable unit with a built-in screen.

  • Two-Way 180° Steering: up-and-down tip control directs the camera along bores and welds, while probe rotation provides the perpendicular view
  • Two Probe Sizes: a 6.2 mm probe at 1280 × 720 and an 8.5 mm probe at 1920 × 1080 let users match opening size and image detail to the task
  • 4.3-Inch IPS Screen: a wide-angle IPS panel delivers sharp images with stable color for direct handheld use
  • Mobile and Screen Versions: the screen model operates independently, while the mobile model streams to phones, diagnostic tools, and computers
  • IP67 Waterproof Tip: the lens and probe withstand dust and water immersion in wet and dirty environments
  • High-Lumen Adjustable LEDs: six or ten tip-mounted LEDs with brightness control illuminate dark cavities and help manage glare
  • High-Temperature Alarm and Auto Shutdown: an on-screen temperature readout and automatic shutdown above 90°C protect the probe
  • 20,000-Cycle Steering Life: a durable bending section and metal-and-plastic snake tube stand up to repeated use
  • Customizable Tube Length to 5 m: standard 1, 2, and 3 m options, plus longer custom lengths, match reach to the target
  • TF Card Storage and Playback: photo capture, video recording, image rotation, and on-device playback keep inspection records on-site
  • Multi-Language Menu: an English-first interface with nine additional languages and clear button labels keeps operation simple
  • CE, FCC, and RoHS Compliant: regulatory certifications covering safety, electromagnetic compatibility, and restricted substances

Theory and Method

Two-way articulation steers the camera within a single plane. One opposing pair of control wires runs through the insertion tube to a bending section behind the lens. Moving the control tightens one wire and releases the other, so the tip bends up or down toward the target across a 180° range. To reach a feature outside that plane, the operator rotates the probe and steers again. This single-plane approach relies on a simpler mechanism than four-way or 360° joystick systems.

Image capture starts at a digital sensor behind the lens, and the probe size determines the resolution and field of view. The 6.2 mm version delivers 1280 × 720 resolution across a 90° view, while the 8.5 mm version delivers 1920 × 1080 across an 80° view. Both achieve their best focus between 20 and 100 mm. High-lumen LEDs provide illumination, with six on the 6.2 mm probe and ten on the 8.5 mm probe, and brightness control helps manage glare.

Single-plane steering fits a large share of inspection work. When a bore, weld, or duct runs mostly straight, the operator looks up and down far more often than side to side, and probe rotation covers the rest. The result is a lightweight tool with direct controls that shortens training time and speeds up routine checks, backed by an IP67 tip that tolerates dust and wet conditions.
