The TR 200 Plus is a portable surface roughness tester built to check production finishes right across American machine shops or in your inspection lab. It tracks 20 different texture readouts using an inductive diamond tip and displays complete wave shapes on an integrated OLED screen. Machining, aerospace, and automotive teams in US manufacturing rely on this handheld gauge to verify part quality during regular production runs.

Surface Roughness Tester Overview

The TR-200 Plus serves as a portable profiling device built for checking surface textures across machined parts in US production facilities. Running on a dedicated digital signal processor, the hardware calculates profile numbers without draining the rechargeable lithium-ion cell during extended inspection shifts.

The unit weighs 400 grams and measures 143 by 55 by 42 millimeters, giving your quality control crew a handheld instrument that moves easily between receiving benches and CNC machinery on American shop floors.

Using an inductive pickup fitted with a 5-micrometer radius diamond stylus, the instrument measures surface heights along a vertical travel distance of 160 micrometers. Your technicians view real-time profile waves, material ratio plots, and numerical data directly on the bright OLED display, helping you verify part tolerances right where parts get made.

Compliance & Standards

Facility managers in American industry know that meeting customer specifications requires adherence to published testing criteria. This surface roughness tester conforms to ANSI guidelines widely referenced across US manufacturing plants and machine shops. For facilities handling export contracts or international supply partnerships, the system simultaneously matches ISO, DIN, and JIS evaluation standards.

Every TR-200 Plus ships from the factory with an included calibration certificate and a standard test block. This verification documentation gives your inspection team documented measurement accuracy on day one, helping you satisfy domestic quality audits, client sign-offs, and internal quality programs without delay.

Key Features

  • Twenty Parameter Evaluation: The instrument measures 20 distinct roughness metrics, including Ra, Rz, Ry, Rq, and Rmax, alongside material ratio curves. You can assess both general texture and functional bearing characteristics on a single screen without needing secondary calculation software.
  • Inductive Transducer with Diamond Stylus: A 5-micrometer radius diamond tip tracks subtle micro-peaks across a 160-micrometer vertical span with resolution down to 0.001 micrometers (0.04 microinches). This setup gives you dependable surface tracing on tight-tolerance components.
  • Over 20 Hours of Cordless Runtime: The built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery supports long shifts away from charging outlets. Automatic sleep and shutdown routines conserve stored charge when inspectors step away from the bench.
  • Onboard Memory and Computer Connection: The hardware records 100 groups of original measurements and wave shapes. Your staff can transfer logged inspection files to a computer or direct-connect printer using the supplied USB cable.
  • Dual Measurement Units and Multilingual Interface: Users can switch readouts between metric micrometers and imperial microinches, matching standard US print drawings while viewing interface text in more than five languages.
  • Protective Steel Support Hardware: A steel protective bracket stabilizes the pick-up sensor during manual checks, preventing unwanted movement from altering your test numbers.

Product Applications & Operating Environments

Inspection crews put this surface roughness tester to work inside conventional American machine shops, receiving docks, and production testing areas. Because the 400-gram unit works by hand or positioned on an optional measuring stand, operators can check workpieces during initial machine tool setup, sample lots mid-shift, or complete final sign-offs before shipping.

Common Industrial Sectors:

  • Machining and Metal Fabrication: Verifying milled, turned, and ground faces directly at machine centers to detect tool wear early and limit scrap parts.
  • Automotive Manufacturing: Evaluating engine components, brake faces, and drivetrain shafts against tight print finishes.
  • Aerospace Production: Documenting uniform finishes on flight hardware and structural fittings to confirm compliance with blueprint requirements.
  • Medical Device Fabrication: Inspecting surgical instruments and implantable hardware where specific roughness values are necessary for proper part performance.

When teams need to inspect difficult part locations, optional transducers let you check concave curves, cylinder bores, and internal grooves across standard shop-floor setups.
