Oil Particle Counter – QualiOPC™ VES

The QualiOPC™ VES Oil Particle Counter is a high-precision laboratory solution designed for detailed particle contamination analysis across a wide range of oils and industrial liquids, including high-viscosity samples. It delivers reliable particle size distribution and contamination level measurements using the light-blocking principle, supporting analysis of hydraulic oil, lubricating oil, transformer insulating oil, gear oil, aviation kerosene, organic fluids, and polymer-based solutions.

Built for advanced laboratory workflows, this system supports flexible sampling requirements and a wide range of international cleanliness standards. Its integrated pressurized and vacuum-assisted sampling system improves handling of challenging liquids by extracting high-viscosity samples and minimizing microbubble interference. The pressure sampling unit is capable of handling oils up to 400 cSt and includes a transparent viewing window for real-time sample observation.

QualiOPC™ VES is engineered to accurately detect and quantify solid particle contamination in liquid samples. By utilizing light-blocking measurement technology, it determines particle size distribution and concentration, enabling users to assess fluid cleanliness, detect contamination anomalies, and support maintenance planning as well as quality control processes.

Designed for both standard oils and complex fluid types, the system enhances laboratory efficiency through improved sample handling and stable measurement performance. Its combined pressure and vacuum functions ensure smoother extraction of difficult samples while maintaining measurement accuracy across diverse testing conditions.

Oil Particle Counter – QualiOPC™ VES Applications

Hydraulic Fluid Analysis:
The QualiOPC™ VES Oil Particle Counter is well-suited for hydraulic fluid contamination assessment, enabling maintenance teams to identify wear-generated particles and monitor fluid cleanliness levels that can impact system performance and reliability.

Lubrication and Gear Oil Monitoring:
This system supports lubricating oil and gear oil analysis for continuous particulate contamination tracking. It helps evaluate oil condition over time, supports maintenance scheduling, and reduces the likelihood of mechanical wear in critical equipment.

Transformer and Power Equipment Oil Testing:
Designed to analyze transformer insulating oil and other dielectric fluids, the instrument supports cleanliness evaluation in electrical and power systems where particle contamination can affect insulation performance and operational safety.

Aviation Fuel and Kerosene Quality Control:
The QualiOPC™ VES enables particle contamination testing in aviation fuel and kerosene quality-control processes, supporting consistent fuel cleanliness verification across handling and storage stages.

Organic Liquids and Polymer Solutions:
This system extends its analytical capability to organic liquids and polymer solutions, making it suitable for laboratories working with a broad range of industrial fluids beyond conventional oil applications.

Standards

NAS 1638:
A legacy classification standard used to define particulate contamination levels in hydraulic fluids based on particle count ranges.

SAE AS4059F:
An SAE cleanliness classification standard that evaluates fluid contamination levels by categorizing particle size distribution and counts.

ISO 4402:
An earlier calibration standard used for automatic particle counters in liquid contamination measurement systems.

ISO 11171:
A widely recognized calibration and verification standard for automatic particle counters used in liquid cleanliness and contamination analysis.

GOST 17216:
A Russian classification standard used to determine contamination levels in fluids based on measured particle content and distribution.

Theory and Method

QualiOPC™ VES operates on the light-blocking principle, also referred to as the photoresist or shading-based particle counting method. In this process, particles suspended in the liquid pass through a defined sensing zone and interrupt a laser beam. These interruptions are converted into electrical signals, which are then processed to determine particle size distribution and overall contamination levels. This measurement approach is widely used in hydraulic and industrial fluid cleanliness analysis and aligns with established international particle counting practices.

To enhance measurement reliability across complex samples, the system integrates pressure and vacuum-assisted sampling technology. This combined mechanism improves the handling of high-viscosity liquids and supports efficient sample extraction. It also helps reduce microbubble interference, ensuring more stable and accurate readings during analysis. The sampling system is capable of handling oil viscosities up to 400 cSt, making it suitable for a broad range of laboratory and industrial fluid testing applications.
