Thermal Camera Analyzer (R&D) – QualiTCA™ 64

The QualiTCA™ 64 Thermal Camera Analyzer (R&D) is a research-grade thermal imaging system designed for laboratories requiring high-resolution temperature measurement and detailed thermal analysis. Its 640×512 thermal sensor works with a quick-change macro lens for close inspection of integrated circuits, fibers, microcomponents, and other fine materials. With a temperature measurement range of -20°C to 550°C (-4°F to 1022°F), the system supports ambient material studies as well as high-temperature component and failure analysis. A stable, multi-angle adjustable frame helps maintain consistent camera positioning for repeatable measurements.

The QualiTCA™ 64 provides continuous real-time thermal monitoring for up to 24 hours, making it suitable for extended reliability testing, thermal aging studies, and overnight experiments. The analyzer can simultaneously connect to an ambient temperature sensor and load power meter, allowing voltage, current, and temperature data to be correlated on a shared timeline. Measurement accuracy is rated at ±2°C or 2% from -20°C to 120°C, with accuracy of ±3% above 120°C. Its DDE image-processing algorithm enhances thermal image clarity, helping researchers identify fine temperature variations and small thermal features.

The included Professional Edition software records full radiometric thermal video in proprietary DYV format and supports standard JPG and MP4 output. Researchers can retrieve temperature measurements from individual frames after a test has finished, supporting detailed post-test thermal analysis. Independent emissivity settings from 0.1 to 1.0 allow different materials within the same thermal image to be measured with appropriate emissivity values. With an operating environment of -10°C to 55°C, the QualiTCA™ 64 is well suited for laboratory benches, research facilities, and technical workshops.

Thermal Camera Analyzer (R&D) – QualiTCA™ 64 Applications

The QualiTCA™ 64 Thermal Camera Analyzer (R&D) supports high-resolution thermal imaging and temperature measurement for research, product development, materials testing, and electronic component analysis. Its 640×512 thermal sensor, macro lens compatibility, and long-duration recording capabilities make it suitable for detailed thermal studies across a range of applications.

  • IC and Circuit Board Failure Analysis: Identify overheating or failing components and evaluate how heat from a hot chip spreads to neighboring components across a circuit board.

  • Fine Material and Bond Wire Inspection: Examine small targets on integrated circuits, bond wires, fibers, and other fine materials using the macro lens for detailed thermal inspection.

  • Long-Duration Reliability Testing: Record continuous thermal video for up to 24 hours to monitor temperature changes, heat dissipation, thermal stability, and aging behavior over extended test periods.

  • Thermally Conductive Material Testing: Analyze heat transfer through thermally conductive materials, heat sinks, and related components under controlled test conditions.

  • Heating Element Characterization: Measure heating rate, temperature distribution, and thermal performance of heating wires, films, and similar elements under different voltage and current conditions.

  • E-Cigarette Atomizer Temperature Analysis: Monitor atomizer heating behavior, temperature changes, and heat-up rates during controlled testing and performance evaluation.

  • Product and Component Quality Control: Monitor maximum, minimum, and average temperatures during automated production or testing processes to identify abnormal heating and over-temperature conditions.

  • Quick-Change Macro Lens: Switches between wider thermal views and close-up inspection of integrated circuits, fibers, bond wires, and fine material samples.

  • Power Meter and Temperature Sensor Integration: Correlates voltage, current, ambient temperature, and thermal measurements on a shared timeline for comprehensive test analysis.

  • Tiered Accuracy to 550°C: Provides accuracy of ±2°C or 2% from -20°C to 120°C and ±3% above 120°C, supporting reliable measurements across the full temperature range.

  • Separate Area Emissivity Settings from 0.1 to 1.0: Allows individual regions within a thermal image to use different emissivity values when analyzing multiple materials in the same frame.

  • Full Radiometric DYV Video Recording: Stores temperature data for every recorded frame, allowing detailed thermal measurements and analysis after the test is complete.

  • DDE Image Enhancement Algorithm: Improves displayed thermal image sharpness to make small temperature patterns and fine thermal features easier to identify.

  • Multi-Angle Adjustable Frame: Provides stable camera positioning for different laboratory setups and helps maintain consistent measurement conditions between experiments.

  • Multiple Thermal Analysis Modes: Supports dedicated analysis workflows for IC and circuit board testing, atomizer temperature analysis, multidimensional thermal analysis, material thermal capacity studies, and defect detection.

Theory and Method

Every material and electronic component above absolute zero emits infrared energy related to its temperature. The QualiTCA™ 64 Thermal Camera Analyzer detects this infrared radiation with a 640×512 microbolometer array and a 1.3 mrad instantaneous field of view (IFOV). The combination of high thermal resolution and fine angular resolution helps the analyzer capture small targets and provide detailed temperature measurements across multiple regions within a single thermal image.

A proprietary digital detail enhancement (DDE) algorithm improves the displayed thermal image before measurement adjustments are made, helping reveal fine features when working at the close distances associated with the macro lens. Because different materials have different infrared emissivity characteristics, the QualiTCA™ 64 provides independent area emissivity settings from 0.1 to 1.0. This allows different regions of the same thermal image to receive individual emissivity corrections. Measurement accuracy is ±2°C or 2% up to 120°C, with accuracy of ±3% above 120°C.

The analyzer can connect to a load power meter while simultaneously monitoring thermal data, allowing voltage, current, and temperature measurements to appear on a shared timeline. This makes it easier to identify relationships between changes in electrical load and component temperature. For extended testing, the QualiTCA™ 64 can record continuously for up to 24 hours in full radiometric DYV format, preserving temperature data throughout the complete test period for detailed post-test analysis and thermal performance evaluation.
