RDE-OES Ultra Compact Elemental Analyzer – QualiRDE™ 3000

The QualiRDE™ 3000 RDE-OES Ultra Compact Elemental Analyzer delivers rapid elemental analysis for oils, fuels, and industrial fluids used in maintenance programs and laboratory testing. Designed for direct sample analysis, it supports both new and in-service lubricants, hydraulic oils, fuels, greases, antifreeze, water-based fluids, and steam turbine condensate. The system helps identify wear metals, contaminants, and additive elements quickly, supporting condition monitoring and reliability initiatives.

Built around a graphite rotating disc electrode excitation source, the analyzer combines a Paschen-Runge optical system with a high-precision CCD detector to provide accurate multi-element measurements. With analysis times of 30 seconds or less, laboratories can generate actionable data without lengthy preparation procedures.

The QualiRDE™ 3000 is well suited for industrial, transportation, marine, aviation, mining, power generation, military, and commercial oil analysis laboratories. Its compact footprint supports facilities seeking high-performance elemental testing while minimizing space requirements. Direct sample testing, low sample volume requirements, operation without reagent gases, and advanced software for trending and predictive maintenance make it a practical solution for routine fluid monitoring.

As an RDE-OES elemental analyzer for oil condition monitoring, the system utilizes atomic emission spectroscopy and a graphite rotating disc electrode to determine elemental concentrations in fluid samples. Key components include a high-energy arc excitation power supply, rotating disc electrode assembly, Paschen-Runge spectrometer, high-precision CCD detector, electronic control system, and computer-based analysis software.

The analyzer supports a broad range of applications, including new and used lubricating oils, hydraulic fluids, gasoline, diesel fuel, heavy fuel oils, lubricating greases, antifreeze, industrial water, domestic water, and steam turbine condensate. Its single-station design, integrated grinder, optional printer configuration, and unified control platform make it an excellent choice for laboratories requiring fast elemental screening and dependable analytical performance in a space-efficient system.

RDE-OES Ultra Compact Elemental Analyzer - QualiRDE™ 3000 Applications

Used Oil Analysis

The QualiRDE™ 3000 is designed for used oil analysis programs that track wear metals, contaminants, and additive elements in lubricants and hydraulic fluids. Its rapid elemental testing capabilities help maintenance teams evaluate lubricant condition, identify abnormal equipment wear, and support informed maintenance decisions. ASTM D6595 outlines the determination of wear metals and contaminants in used lubricating oils and hydraulic fluids through rotating disc electrode atomic emission spectrometry.

Hydraulic Fluid Monitoring

The analyzer provides fast elemental screening of hydraulic fluids, helping identify early signs of component wear, contamination, and fluid degradation. This enables maintenance personnel to detect potential system issues sooner, reduce unplanned downtime, and improve equipment reliability through condition-based monitoring.

Fuel and Fluid Condition Screening

The QualiRDE™ 3000 supports elemental analysis of gasoline, diesel fuel, heavy fuel oil, and other related fluids. Its analytical capabilities help laboratories detect contaminants and corrosion-related elements that may affect fuel quality and system performance. ASTM D6728 defines procedures for measuring contaminants and corrosion-related materials in gas turbine and diesel engine fuels using rotating disc electrode atomic emission spectroscopy.

Industrial Reliability and Predictive Maintenance

With simultaneous multi-element analysis of up to 24 elements, sub-ppm detection performance, and analysis times of less than 30 seconds, the QualiRDE™ 3000 is a valuable tool for reliability-focused maintenance programs. Industries including aviation, marine, mining, steel production, transportation, energy, and commercial testing laboratories can benefit from fast elemental data for equipment health assessment. Integrated software supports trend monitoring, condition evaluation, and predictive maintenance strategies that help optimize asset performance and maintenance scheduling.

Standards

The QualiRDE™ 3000 RDE-OES Ultra Compact Elemental Analyzer is designed to support elemental analysis workflows aligned with widely recognized industry standards for oil, hydraulic fluid, and fuel testing.

  • ASTM D6595 – Standard Test Method for the Determination of Wear Metals, Contaminants, and Additive Elements in Used Lubricating Oils and Hydraulic Fluids by Rotating Disc Electrode Atomic Emission Spectrometry. This standard is commonly referenced for machinery condition monitoring, lubricant health assessment, and maintenance-related fluid analysis.

  • ASTM D6728 – Standard Test Method for the Determination of Contaminants and Corrosion-Related Elements in Gas Turbine and Diesel Engine Fuels by Rotating Disc Electrode Atomic Emission Spectrometry. This method supports fuel quality evaluation and contamination monitoring in industrial and transportation applications.

Theory and Method

RDE-OES (Rotating Disc Electrode Optical Emission Spectroscopy) is an elemental analysis technique that determines the concentration of metallic elements in oils and other industrial fluids by measuring the characteristic light emitted from excited atoms. The method is widely used for rapid multi-element analysis of lubricants, hydraulic fluids, fuels, coolants, and related samples in maintenance and laboratory environments.

The QualiRDE™ 3000 RDE-OES Ultra Compact Elemental Analyzer utilizes a rotating graphite disc electrode and high-energy arc excitation to generate atomic emission from the sample. The emitted light is separated through a Paschen-Runge optical system and captured by a high-resolution CCD detector, allowing simultaneous measurement of multiple elements. This approach enables the identification and quantification of wear metals, contaminants, and additive elements directly from the sample cup without the need for reagent gases or chemical pretreatment.

The analyzer integrates dual optical configurations, dual fiber-optic signal transmission, and precision optical temperature stabilization to support consistent analytical performance. Combined with advanced spectral analysis software, data management tools, trend monitoring, and predictive analysis capabilities, the system provides reliable elemental data for fluid condition assessment, equipment health monitoring, and maintenance planning.
