Its automated workflow reduces routine inspection to a simple one-touch operation, helping quality teams achieve faster measurement cycles with minimal operator input.

Vertical Optical Comparator

  • Compact Desktop Design: With a 366 × 425 × 665 mm footprint and 30 kg weight, the IVP-100 fits on standard laboratory benches and can be positioned close to production areas without requiring a dedicated metrology room or floor-mounted system.

  • One-Touch Measurement Start: After placing the component on the measuring stage, operators can start a complete inspection cycle with a single touch, helping reduce routine measurement time to seconds.

  • Dual Telecentric Optics with 115 × 75 × 30 mm Measuring Volume: The dual telecentric optical system maintains consistent magnification throughout the measuring field, minimizing perspective-related dimensional errors for components up to 30 mm in height.

  • Dual LED Illumination: Independent green contour and white ring lighting provide flexible illumination for edge and surface measurements, producing high-contrast images across different materials, shapes, and surface finishes.

  • Intelligent Automatic Feature Recognition: The software automatically analyzes captured images and identifies geometric features, reducing manual point selection during routine dimensional inspections.

  • 15.6-Inch Touchscreen Interface: Operators can create measurement elements directly on the touchscreen using finger gestures, simplifying program creation and reducing the learning curve for new users.

  • Fixture-Free Part Placement: Components can be positioned anywhere within the 135 × 95 mm stage glass area without dedicated jigs or alignment fixtures. This helps minimize setup and changeover time between different part numbers.

  • Automatic Edge Detection and Boundary Filtering: Advanced image processing identifies component edges while filtering surface clutter and boundary noise, supporting consistent measurements on irregular or reflective parts.

  • Automatic Program Recall and Report Output: The system can identify the inspected part, recall its stored measurement program, perform the inspection, and generate a measurement report without requiring manual file selection or repetitive data entry.

  • 24-Hour Continuous Operation: The IVP-100 is designed for extended operating schedules, making it suitable for shift-based manufacturing, high-volume inspection, and production environments requiring continuous dimensional measurement.

  • Touch-Based Program Editing: Technicians can create, modify, and optimize measurement programs directly from the touchscreen, allowing inspection routines to be adjusted without a keyboard or external programming equipment.

Theory and Measurement Method

The QualiPP™ IV Vertical Optical Comparator uses transmitted contour illumination to produce a high-contrast shadowgraph of the component under inspection. A green LED light source positioned beneath the measuring stage directs light through the glass platform and the part profile. Areas blocked by the component appear as a dark silhouette, while unobstructed areas remain bright. This distinct contrast creates a clearly defined boundary for the image-processing system to detect and measure.

The dual-axis telecentric optical system is central to the IVP-100's image-based measurement method. Telecentric optics maintain parallel principal rays along the optical axis, keeping image magnification consistent across the specified depth of field. This minimizes perspective-related dimensional errors commonly associated with conventional imaging lenses, where changes in component height can affect apparent size.

With this optical configuration, the IVP-100 delivers measurement accuracy of ±8 μm and repeatability of 5 μm across its 115 × 75 mm measuring field. Consistent magnification helps provide stable dimensional results across different component positions within the measurement area.

The system captures the complete 115 × 75 mm measuring field in a single image, which is the core principle behind flash measurement. Its 20 MP camera records the full component silhouette in one image pass, while advanced edge-detection software identifies geometric features such as circles, lines, arcs, and angles for automated dimensional analysis.

A white LED ring light complements the green contour illumination when inspecting components with reflective or visible surface features. This dual-lighting configuration provides greater flexibility for different part geometries, materials, and inspection requirements.

Once the system identifies a stored component, the IVP-100 automatically recalls the associated measurement program, performs the programmed inspection, and generates the measurement report. This streamlined workflow reduces manual program selection and supports fast, repeatable dimensional inspection.
