Thermal Camera Analyzer for PCB – QualiTCA™ 25A

The QualiTCA™ 25A Thermal Camera Analyzer for PCB is a PCB thermal imaging camera designed for circuit board repair, fault detection, and component-level thermal inspection. It helps technicians locate leakage currents, short circuits, and overheating components without physically probing the circuit board. The camera mounts on a foldable book-style stand that keeps the thermal sensor positioned over the PCB, leaving both hands free for soldering, testing, or component inspection.

A 256×192 thermal sensor measures temperatures from -15°C to 600°C (5°F to 1112°F), making the QualiTCA™ 25A suitable for identifying small temperature variations, leakage points, hot spots, and abnormal component temperatures during PCB troubleshooting.

Advanced PCB Thermal Analysis

The QualiTCA™ 25A connects to a PC or Android device through USB Type-C and supports dual software with standard and professional thermal analysis modes. Multiple measurement tools help technicians examine thermal patterns across different areas of a circuit board, including:

  • Point temperature measurement

  • Line temperature measurement

  • Surface temperature measurement

  • 3D thermal field analysis

  • Double board comparison

  • Over-limit temperature alarms

The double board comparison function allows a known-good PCB to be compared with a suspected faulty board, making thermal differences easier to identify. An adjustable temperature alarm can also alert technicians when a measured temperature exceeds a preset limit.

Macro Thermal Inspection for Small Components

A detachable macro magnification lens provides a working distance of 30mm, allowing closer thermal inspection of small PCB components and localized hot spots. With the macro lens installed, measurement accuracy changes from ±2°C or 2% to ±5°C or 4%.

The compact foldable design measures 150 × 150 × 80mm when stored and 150 × 150 × 165mm during operation. With an operating temperature range of 0°C to 50°C and humidity tolerance of up to 95%, the QualiTCA™ 25A is well suited to electronics repair benches, PCB testing stations, and component-level troubleshooting environments.

QualiTCA™ 25A PCB thermal camera analyzer combines high-resolution infrared imaging, hands-free inspection, macro thermal analysis, and PCB comparison tools for efficient circuit board fault detection.

Thermal Camera Analyzer for PCB – QualiTCA™ 25A Applications

The QualiTCA™ 25A Thermal Camera Analyzer for PCB is designed to locate hidden thermal faults on powered, populated circuit boards without requiring immediate disassembly. Its infrared imaging and thermal measurement functions help technicians identify abnormal heat patterns, short circuits, overloaded components, and other PCB-related issues.

  • Leakage and Short-Circuit Detection: Locates components or circuit traces drawing excessive current on a powered PCB by identifying abnormal thermal patterns.

  • Water-Damage and Corrosion Repair: Helps locate shorted or overheating components on circuit boards affected by liquid exposure before further repair or disassembly.

  • SMT and Rework Quality Control: Checks repaired, replaced, or soldered components to verify that they reach expected operating temperatures after rework.

  • Circuit Board Thermal Design Validation: Evaluates the thermal behavior of a PCB under load to identify unexpected hot spots and verify the performance of its thermal design.

  • Double Board Thermal Comparison: Compares a known-good reference PCB with a suspect board to highlight thermal differences and help isolate potentially faulty components.

  • Electronics Manufacturing Evaluation: Supports PCB testing, equipment evaluation, prototype verification, and thermal performance checks before circuit boards enter production.

Thermal Camera Analyzer for PCB – QualiTCA™ 25A Key Features

Thermal Camera Analyzer for PCB

The QualiTCA™ 25A Thermal Camera Analyzer for PCB combines one-click leakage and short-circuit detection with advanced thermal analysis tools for circuit board repair, troubleshooting, and component-level inspection.

  • One-Click Leakage and Short-Circuit Detection: Quickly identifies abnormal heat patterns associated with excessive current, helping narrow a PCB fault to a specific component or circuit trace.

  • 256×192 Thermal Resolution: Provides detailed infrared imaging for viewing individual components and identifying temperature differences across populated circuit boards.

  • Fixed-Focus, Stand-Mounted Design: Keeps the thermal camera positioned over the PCB while leaving both hands free for soldering, probing, testing, or component removal.

  • Foldable Book-Style Housing: Folds to 150 × 150 × 80mm, making the PCB thermal analyzer convenient to store and move between electronics repair stations.

  • Detachable Macro Magnification Lens: Reduces the working distance to 30mm for closer thermal inspection of small components, traces, and localized hot spots.

  • 3D Thermal Field Analysis: Converts PCB temperature data into a three-dimensional height map, making unusual temperature patterns and thermal outliers easier to identify.

  • Double Board Comparison: Displays a known-good PCB alongside a suspect board to highlight thermal differences and help isolate potentially faulty components.

  • Dual PC and Android Software: Supports standard and professional thermal analysis software for PC and Android devices, with automatic online software upgrades.

  • Multiple Temperature Measurement Modes: Provides point, line, surface, and full-field measurement options for detailed PCB thermal inspection.

  • Over-Limit Temperature Alarm: Alerts technicians when a measured temperature exceeds a predefined threshold during circuit board testing and troubleshooting.

Theory and Method

Every powered component on a circuit board produces some heat as electrical energy is dissipated. When a component has a short circuit, leakage current, or another electrical fault, its temperature can rise above surrounding components. The QualiTCA™ 25A Thermal Camera Analyzer for PCB detects these thermal differences using a 256×192 microbolometer array designed for the long-wave infrared spectrum.

The sensor captures infrared radiation emitted by components, traces, and other areas of the circuit board and converts the detected energy into temperature data for each pixel. This information is presented as a detailed PCB thermal image, allowing technicians to identify abnormal heat patterns and potential fault locations without physically probing every component.

Fixed-Focus Thermal Inspection

The fixed focal-length optical system simplifies PCB inspection by providing accurate thermal readings at a working distance of 100mm to 150mm without manual focus adjustment. This range works well with the stand-mounted configuration and one-click leakage detection workflow.

For closer inspection, the detachable macro magnification lens reduces the working distance to approximately 30mm. This allows technicians to examine individual components, traces, and small thermal hot spots in greater detail. The macro lens increases magnification while reducing measurement accuracy compared with the standard optical configuration.

Multi-Mode PCB Thermal Analysis

The QualiTCA™ 25A provides several thermal measurement methods for detailed circuit board analysis. Point measurement provides a temperature reading at a selected location, while line measurement displays temperature changes along a defined path. Surface measurement calculates temperature data across a selected region for broader thermal evaluation.

The 3D thermal field analysis function converts PCB temperature data into a height-map visualization, making temperature differences and abnormal thermal areas easier to recognize. For advanced circuit board troubleshooting, double board comparison places thermal data from a known-good PCB against a suspect board, helping technicians identify differences that may indicate a faulty component, trace, or circuit section.
