The QualiTC™ 38 Professional Portable Thermal Camera is an industrial thermal imaging solution designed for power utility inspections, petrochemical facilities, firefighting operations, and other demanding high-temperature applications. It combines a 384×288 thermal detector with an 8-megapixel visible-light camera and a 4.3-inch sunlight-readable touchscreen protected by 0.5 mm explosion-proof glass. With a wide temperature measurement range of -20°C to 1200°C (-4°F to 2192°F), this professional thermal camera supports routine electrical inspections as well as high-temperature process monitoring. TisoView image processing enhances thermal imagery using super-resolution and detail-enhancement algorithms for clearer inspection results.
The QualiTC™ 38 features a 40-meter laser rangefinder, GPS positioning, 4G connectivity, and an electronic compass, giving field technicians detailed location and distance information for each measurement. Voice annotation allows spoken notes to be attached directly to captured photos and videos, helping document inspection findings efficiently. Dedicated analysis software provides access to full-frame thermal data and full-temperature radiometric video after an inspection. Built-in WiFi and Bluetooth enable wireless communication with a companion mobile app for real-time thermal image transmission to smartphones and tablets.
Designed for extended field inspections, the QualiTC™ 38 uses a removable 5000 mAh lithium battery that provides approximately five hours of continuous operation. An additional battery pack can support longer work shifts. The camera includes 32GB of built-in eMMC storage and supports microSD expansion up to 256GB, providing ample space for thermal images, videos, and inspection records. Its -10°C to 60°C operating temperature range and -40°C to 85°C storage temperature range help support use in demanding industrial and field environments. Optional gas sensors can also be integrated for combined thermal imaging and gas detection applications.

Theory and Method
Every surface above absolute zero emits infrared radiation according to its temperature. The QualiTC™ 38 Professional Portable Thermal Camera detects this energy within the 8 to 14 micrometer long-wave infrared (LWIR) band using a 384×288 thermal detector array. Each detector element responds to incoming infrared radiation through a change in electrical resistance. The camera’s onboard processor converts these changes into temperature data for individual pixels, creating a detailed thermal image of the target. The TisoView™ imaging engine then applies super-resolution and digital detail enhancement to improve image clarity before the operator begins the inspection.
Accurate measurements up to 1200°C require compensation for several environmental and target-related factors. The QualiTC™ 38 accounts for target distance, atmospheric conditions, ambient temperature, humidity, and visibility, which can influence the infrared energy reaching the detector from a hot or distant object. Its integrated 40-meter laser rangefinder measures the actual distance to the target and provides this information for measurement correction, reducing reliance on manual distance estimates.
Multiple temperature measurement modes provide flexible inspection options. Point measurement records the temperature at a specific location, while line measurement analyzes temperature variation along areas such as welds, seams, or equipment surfaces. Frame measurement evaluates an entire selected region to identify maximum, minimum, and center-point temperatures. With full-frame radiometric video recording, every pixel in every frame retains its temperature data. This allows technicians to review recorded sequences later and extract temperature readings from specific points without relying solely on still thermal images.
